El Dorado Computer Users Group

Founded in 1988, the El Dorado Computer Users Group normally holds meetings on the first Monday of the month.

Formed by computer users from a diverse background, today the EDCUG remains a group of individuals with varied hardware, software, and operating system interests. Although more technical in nature than many user groups, the club welcomes all those interested in how to use a computer as well as those interested in computing internals.

In the past EDCUG has been actively involved in community events. The Group maintained a community bulletin board system for seven years. The BBS allowed for local communication between community residents as well as being networked to the the world. A large directory of shareware programs was supported by the users. As Notebooktechnology improved, the BBS was replaced by the Internet which provides a wider range of reference material and more recent files. EDCUG has also supported NET DAY by supplying materials and manpower to the local schools.

Our meetings always include a program or demonstration presented by an outside vendor or Group member. Visitors are welcome to attend our meetings and perhaps join the Group.
